  • A major flood has impacted Rio Grande do Sul, a state with a 11.2M population.
    • 445 cities were affected
    • 2.039.084 affected ; 339.350 displaced
    • 70.000 sheltered ; 74.153 rescued
    • 756 injured, 125 missing and 136 confirmed deaths
    • Death toll is still to rise, since water is up to 17 feet in many regions and has yet to go down.

  • Government officials have estimated so far an impact of 4.0 billion dollars to rebuild the state.

    • USD 500M for assistance ; USD 1.5 Bn for reestablishment policies ; USD 2.0 Bn for reconstruction

  • Core infrastructure is also down:

    • Numerous cities are 100% under water, destroying houses, businesses and cars.
    • Water treatment stations were damaged, energy was shut down to avoid electric shocks in flooded regions, roads and bridges have collapsed. The state capital airport was also shuttered by the deluge.

Raising Funds

• NGO: Funds will be allocated to Instituto Cultural Floresta (website ; IG), a non profit organization dedicated to safety, health and education. The Institute is recognized for it's close relationship to high rank entrepreneurs and largest companies in the region. The belief in economic freedom, individual responsibility and decentralization is what unites us. Many of the institute leaders have tight relationships to the Liberty Forum, the largest economic freedom forum in LatAm. Other reasons to rely include:

  • Strong track record and close relationship with government officials in health, security and education domains
  • Awarded with Farroupilha Medal of Merit by the State Parliament.
  • A BRL 50M+ is being organized by largest companies in the region alongside Instituto Cultural Floresta.

  • The campaign will last until the end of May, when we will transfer the funds to Instituto Floresta.
    • The transfer will be confirmed on the institute IG and twitter accounts.
  • Target for donation amount is USD 200k.
  • Funds will be used for:
